The stained glass cornice around the stair well over the Circulation Desk in the Library was a gift to the children of Southwest Harbor from Ann Seavey with the help of Susa Wuorinen.

LIBRARY CARDS
The Library is available to everyone. All borrowers must have a Library card. Application can be made at the Circulation Desk. Our Library cards are free.
TEMPORARY BORROWERS
A $20.00 deposit is required for first time temporary borrowers. The deposit will be returned upon receipt of the borrower's temporary card plus all library materials and outstanding fines.
CIRCULATION PERIOD
Books, audio books, music and puzzles may be borrowed for two weeks.
Magazines and videos are lent for one week.
RENEWING BOOKS
All materials may be renewed in person, over the telephone or by clicking the RENEW YOUR BOOKS button in the button bank on the left. Renewals are accepted unless the material is on reserve for another patron.
HOLDS & REQUESTS
To request that a book be held for you online:
CLICK the CATALOG – MINERVA button in the button bank on the left.
Select SOUTHWEST HARBOR PUBLIC LIBRARY from the SELECT LIBRARY list.
Search for the book.
When you find the book, CLICK ON IT.
CLICK the REQUEST button at the top of the page.
Fill in your name and Library Card Barcode and complete your request.
If we do not have the book, pursue your search in ALL MINERVA LOCATIONS and proceed in the same way.
If another MINERVA library does not have the book, pursue your search using the SEARCH InfoNET button and proceed in the same way.
If the Southwest Harbor Public Library has the book, but it is on loan to another patron, you may request a hold for the book at the Circulation Desk at the Library or on the telephone.
BOOK DROPS
When we are closed – we are open! There are book drops at the Main Street and at the Village Green entrances.
LIBRARY FINES
Fines for overdue books are 10 cents per day per item. The money collected from fines helps to pay the Library's operating expenses.

COMPUTERS AT THE LIBRARY
PRINTING FROM THE PUBLIC COMPUTERS
You may print from these computer stations by sending your document to print in the usual way and picking the printed copy up at the Circulation Desk.
The fee is 20 cents for every sheet that goes through the printer – mistakes and all. We suggest that you employ Print Preview before committing to print to avoid having to pay for mistakes. Think before you click!
SAVING TO DISC FROM THE PUBLIC COMPUTERS
Blank CD discs are available for purchase at the Circulation Desk for $1.00.
INTERNET ACCESS
We have three computers, with a connection to the Internet, which is available to everyone equally. There is a sign-up sheet at the Circulation Desk. Users may reserve a maximum of 30 minutes a day. The library does not monitor or filter the resources that are accessed by patrons, regardless of their age. Children under 18 may not access the Internet without a permission slip that has been signed by a parent or guardian.

WiFi – WALK IN WIRELESS
The library offers wireless "Wi-Fi" access to the Internet for properly equipped laptops. Library printers are not available as part of this service.

COPY MACHINE
There is a copy machine available for patrons to use at the Library. The fee is 20 cents per copy.

Outgoing faxes to a local number – Cover page is free.
First page is $1.00.

Each additional page is $1.00.
Outgoing international faxes – Cover page is free.

Confirmation that your fax has gone through is 50 cents.
NOTARY PUBLIC
A Notary Public is available at the Library.
Monday through Friday - 9AM - 5PM.
Donations toward library expenses are welcome as a thank you

THE CLARK ROOM
The Clark Room is available by reservation for meetings, classes, and research by individuals and/or groups. A Librarian will be happy to help with this request.
